Choosing a payroll service

Selecting the right payroll service: What to consider

When choosing an employee payroll company, it's essential to be informed about the services and potential additional charges. Some providers may surprise you with hidden fees later on, so ensure you understand the full cost before signing up.

Beware of companies offering unnecessary add-ons, such as extra insurance, which could lead to unnecessary expenses. Often, your household insurer already provides adequate coverage at no extra cost.

At ThePayTeam, we offer a transparent and straightforward solution with a single £260 annual subscription for monthly payroll. There are no hidden costs, regardless of employee turnover.

If your employee earns over £10,000 per year, they will eventually need to be enrolled in a pension scheme. It's crucial to know how your chosen payroll service handles this. Unlike others, ThePayTeam provides flexible options:

  1. You can choose any pension provider you prefer, handle the setup directly, and we won't charge you for calculating and deducting pension contributions.
  2. Alternatively, opt for our fully-managed pension service at just £60 per year, where we take care of setting up a NEST pension scheme and managing all aspects of it.

Here's what's included in the £260 annual subscription:

  1. Customizable employment contracts tailored to your specific needs.
  2. Prompt email responses within 4 working hours and quick phone support with no electronic menus.
  3. Access to our team of payroll and HR experts for any employment-related queries, including legal matters and unique contractual arrangements.
  4. Registration and direct liaison with HMRC to save you the hassle.
  5. Assistance with Pensions Regulator obligations, including declarations and correspondence, even if an employee's salary is below £10,000 per year.
  6. Monthly payslips and the choice of receiving HMRC bills through hard copies or email.
  7. Unlimited advice for your employees on your behalf.

We do not charge extra for the following:

  1. Managing payments for a second employee or temporary worker covering sick or maternity leave.
  2. Setting up or closing down your PAYE scheme.
  3. Assisting with tax refunds or funding for Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP).
  4. Resolving backdated payroll issues.

While we do charge an additional £50 per year for weekly payroll services, we recommend monthly pay as it is more manageable and has a longer notification period for any changes. However, if your employee prefers weekly pay, we accommodate the request without significant issues.

At ThePayTeam, we aim to provide a transparent and efficient payroll service, ensuring you have the support and flexibility you need without unnecessary costs or complications.
